The third segment was the evening gown Competition where the participants displayed their pose, grace and distinction.

The fourth segment was the interview Competition where each contestant was interviewed by one of the Judges.

Our special guest of the night, Julio Hanson serenated our contestants with his single “Color of Love”. (http://jahchild.com/music).  After his performance, these were the scores of the participants: Miss Internet: Nicole Fisher, Third Princess: Victoria Lopez, Second Princess: Nicole Fisher, First Proncess: Kimberly Alvey and Srta Panama California 2014: Karla Hernandez who was crowned by Javiritzel Courtney, Srta Panama California 2013.

The second segment, the participants displayed their grace and energy in the swimsuit competition; swimsuits were sponsored by Malibu Design Group.

The entertainment of the night was provided by member of the Ballet Folklorico Viva PanamaGeovana Ayala, Javiritzel Courtney (Srta. Panama CA 2013), Loira Ramos, Yhinyer Jackson, Dennis Lara, Jairo Laws, Mario Melendez and Victor Grimaldo. Javiritzel performed “La Espina accompanied by Denis and Jairo, later the whole ensemble performed a potpourri of popular musical pieces: Danzon Cumbia, El Borracho, Por la Mañanita and Cumbia Viva Panama.

The Opening of our Gala was performed by guest singer and performer Julio Hanson accompanied by members of Ballet Folklorico Viva Panama, Mario Melendez and Dennis Lara, with the Broadway style musical piece "Panama Canal", it was a great piece to commemorate the Centenial of the Panama Canal.  Following was the first segment where the contestants were evaluated on their cultural presentation and projection.

The participantes were evaluated for judges invited by VPO: Ms. Estela Orozco, an exclusive professional makeup artist for Miss Panamerican International and representative of Chenice of Beverly Hills who has participated as makeup artist and judge in multiple beauty pageants; Ms. Amira Aranda, a licensed esthetician & cosmetologist, owner of Studio Blush Makeup School Corporation, and  leading Certified Makeup Artist and Hair artist in the film, fashion, music and entertainment industry in Hollywood, Middle East and Japan industries, winner of First Place Award winner for Success & Enhancement for Disneyland and Walt Disney Production; Mr. Erick Solares, Attorney graduated at UCLA with a Juris Doctor degree from USD, former President, Executive Director and Legal Advisor of various non-profit organizations and current President Elect of the Mexican American Bar Association and Deputy Attorney IV with the Legal Division of the California Department of Transportation; Justine Pasek, first Panamanian Miss Universe (2002), International Model, TV Presenter, Independent Fundraising Professional, FAO Goodwill Ambassador, Ambassador for Christian Dior & L’Oreal in Latin America, Celebrity spokesperson for HIV/AIDS, Osteoporosis and Metabolic Disease, Orphaned Starfish and the Caribbean Child Foundation; and Aurora Garces was the person responsible for tracking the evaluation of each judge, former elementary teacher in Panama graduated from the Technology University of Panama, who has served as Supervisor of the Accounting Unit of the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department.

After honoring our respective countries with their national anthems, VPO inspired on commemoration of the Panama Canal Centennial, started the program with a musical on the Panama Canal sung by our guest artist and singer, Julio Hanson, accompanied by members of the Ballet Folklorico Viva Panama: Mario Melendez and Dennies Lara.


Our program was adorned by the participants to Srta. Panama California 2014: Karla Hernandez from Downey, Kimberly Alvey from Pasadena, Nicole Fisher from Fresno and Victoria Lopez from Lawndale, who entered the stage at the rhythm of the Broadway musical Hello Dolly, sung by one of the participants, Kimberley Alvey, with choreographic design by Jerry Palacios from Effectto Art Academy and fantasy costume design by Horacio Prado, official designer of Calle Arriba de Las Tablas and Viva Panama Organization.

Our masters of ceremony were Mr. Carlos Carrasco, a consagrated and recognized actor in Hollywood, who participated in movies such as Double Take, Speed, Blood In... Blood Out, Spanglish, Star Trek, CSI, Deep Space 9, and the Spanish voice of Jack In The Box for twelve years, and a 2012 VPO Alumni. He was accompanied by Miss Priscilla Walker, a student of Communications, a passionate for acting and modeling and former Srta. Panama California 2012.

Viva Panama Organization (VPO) always proud of its Culture and always striving to share it with the multicultural population of California annually recognizes each year Distinguished People for their professional achievement and contribution to the Panamanian community in USA.  Commemorating the Panama Canal Centennial, VPO put together its 2014 Annual Recognition Gala on Friday, June 13th, 2014, at the Monte Cristo Banquet Hall, located at 1767 N. Vermont Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90027, 5930 Franklin Ave., Hollywood, CA 90029.
