Lorran Meares
brings to Los Angeles the "Transforming Traditions Wounan Baskets
from the Rainforests of Panama".
Co-Curators: Lorran &
Charlotte Meares.
Magical baskets, from a few inches to several feet in diameter,
enriched with exquisite designs of Panamanian rainforest flora and
fauna, use up to twenty two colors of natural dyes; others use a
restricted pallette to express the geometric motifs of the past.
Meares' stunning photographs document the Wounan way of life and
present images of the processes of their craft: gathering, preparing
and making.

An exhibition of Hösig
di baskets created by the Wounaan and Emberá Indians, who live in
the Darién Rainforest of Panamá. The exhibition traces the culture
