Under the initiative of Viva Panama Organization's President and his collaborator, a motion to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors was placed suggesting the Proclamation of the International Week of Panama in Los Angeles, which was declared by the Chair of the board, Ms. Yvonne Burke, as a commemoration of Panama's Centennial and the Foundation of the Old Panama City on August, 15, 1519.

To celebrate this historical event, VPO had the privilege to have as special guests Prof. Elisa de Cespedes and her recognized dance company, Ballet Folklorico Panameño de Elisa de Céspedes, featuring by first time in Hollywood at the famous Ford Amphitheatre.  We had as special guests the Vice-President of Panama, Sr. Dominador Kayser Basán, his wife and daughter, and sweet and beautiful Justine Pasek, Miss Universe 2002.
